Jim Chaput, Minor Use Co-ordinator, Guelph
Coragen insecticide is now registered on all succulent legumes (peas, snap and lima beans) for the control of several key insect pests including: European Corn Borer, Western Bean Cutworm, Cutworms and Armyworms.
Use a rate of 250-375 mL/ha (101-152 mL/ac). Do not apply more than once every 3-days. Maximum 4 applications per year. There is a 1-day pre-harvest interval.
The minor use project for Lepidopteran pests of legumes was co-sponsored in 2008 by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Pest Management Centre (AAFC-PMC) and the U.S. IR-4 as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel in both countries. The minor use label expansion for Coragen Insecticide is a significant step towards developing an improved pest management toolkit for these pests in Canada.
Users should consult the complete label before using Coragen Insecticide.
