Degree days for root, bulb and leafy vegetable pests – 27 June 2012

Thresholds for second generation emergence of onion maggot flies and cabbage maggot flies have been reached in the Windsor area. The threshold for emergence of local adult leafhoppers has been reached in all areas.

No new leek moth captures this week in Southwestern Ontario, while second flight of leek moth is underway in Quebec. Registered insecticides can be applied 7-10 days after peak flight according to pheromone traps, in order to target larva.

Here are the degree days accumulated from April 1st until June 27th, 2012.
