Dual and Sencor herbicides minor use registrations for fresh market tomatoes

Dual Magnum and Dual II Magnum herbicides have received minor use registration on fresh market field tomatoes. Previously, the labels specified transplanted tomatoes – grown for processing only. The minor use registrations adds transplanted tomatoes – field tomatoes grown for fresh market.

Earlier this year, fresh market tomatoes were also added to the Sencor 75DF label through a minor use registration.  Previously, the label limited application to transplanted tomatoes (grown for processing only), but it is now registered on transplanted tomatoes (grown for fresh market only), as well.

The labels of these herbicides caution:

Tomato varieties differ in tolerance to Dual II Magnum/Dual Magnum/Sencor 75DF herbicides. Since not all tomato varieties have been tested for tolerance to Dual II Magnum/Dual Magnum/Sencor 75DF herbicides, first use of Dual II Magnum/Dual Magnum/Sencor 75DF herbicides should be limited to a small area of each variety to confirm tolerance prior to adoption as a general field practice. Additionally, consult your plant supplier for information on the tolerance of specific tomato varieties to Dual II Magnum/Dual Magnum/Sencor 75DF herbicides.
