Inspire (difenoconazole) Fungicide registered

Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc. and the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the registration of InspireTM (difenoconazole) Fungicide for several crops in Canada.  These are the 1st foliar use registrations of this active ingredient in Canada and mark an important milestone in addressing the pest control product technology gap between the U.S. and Canada.  This product and the diseases it controls have been identified for many years as a critical disease management tool needed by Canadian producers.

InspireTM Fungicide is registered for control or suppression of Alternaria blight and powdery mildew on Brassica vegetables; purple blotch on bulb vegetables; powdery mildew and gummy stem blight on cucurbit vegetables; powdery mildew on grapes; anthracnose and Alternaria on fruiting vegetables; fruit spot, cedar apple rust, quince rust, scab, sooty blotch and powdery mildew of pome fruit; Alternaria (early) blight on potatoes, sweet potatoes and artichokes and Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew on sugarbeets.  The following table provides a summary of the crop registrations on the new Canadian InspireTM Fungicide label.  Consult the full product label for detailed instructions, precautions and restrictions.

InspireTM Fungicide should be used in an Integrated Pest Management program and in rotation with other management strategies to adequately manage resistance.  Consult provincial guidelines and local extension specialists for monitoring protocols and disease management recommendations.
