The Pesticides Regulatory Directorate (PRD), formerly known as the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of an Emergency Use Registration request effective June 2, 2026, until June 1, 2029, for control of anthracnose on field peppers in Ontario only. Captan 480 SC® Fungicide was already labeled for disease control on a wide range of crops in Canada. This Emergency Use Registration request was submitted by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Agribusiness and sponsored by the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association in response to the urgent need for management products for this disease. A temporary MRL of up to 1.5 ppm for captan, has been established on field peppers in Canada. Any growers exporting fruit pods out of country should ensure a tolerance is established in the destination country before considering applications in their production systems.
The following is provided as an abbreviated, general outline only. Users should be making disease management decisions within a robust integrated disease management program and should consult the complete label before using Captan 480 SC® Fungicide.

Environmental Precautions: Toxic to small wild mammals. Toxic to aquatic organisms. Observe spray buffer zones specified under DIRECTIONS FOR USE. To reduce runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats avoid application to areas with a moderate to steep slope, compacted soil, or clay. Avoid application when heavy rain is forecast. Contamination of aquatic areas as a result of runoff may be reduced by including a vegetative filter strip between the treated area and the edge of the water body.
