Minor use label expansion for Switch WG Fungicide for field peppers, field tomatoes, spinach, greenhouse peppers

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of URMULE registrations for SWITCH® WG FUNGICIDE for control of grey mold (Botrytis cinerea) on field tomatoes, grey mold and anthracnose on spinach, anthracnose on field peppers and suppression of powdery mildew on greenhouse peppers in Canada. Switch® WG Fungicide was already labeled for a number of diseases on a range of specialty crops in Canada.

The minor use projects for field peppers and spinach were jointly sponsored in 2006 and 2008 respectively by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Pest Management Centre (AAFC-PMC) and U.S. IR-4 program and the projects for greenhouse pepper and field tomatoes were sponsored by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Pest Management Centre (AAFC-PMC) in 2004 and 2011 respectively as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel. The minor use label expansions for Switch® WG Fungicide are a significant step towards developing an improved pest management toolkit for these diseases in Canada.

Switch® WG Fungicide should be used in an integrated pest management program and in rotation with other management strategies to adequately manage resistance.

Follow all other precautions and directions for use on the Switch® WG Fungicide label carefully.
